The Proposal

The Ring

Before we got engaged, we decided that we wanted to pick out our engagement ring together and we knew that we wanted something very unique. In addition, we did not want to support the De Beers diamond trade. We visited many jewelry stores but ended up really liking Readers Fine Jewelers. We were very impressed with the customer service we received, as well as the uniqueness of the rings we saw. We started with one of their unique designs for our setting, and we placed a special order for this ring with a yellow gold band and a red ruby as the main stone. The setting is a thin band that comes into a spiral on top, with Canadian diamond micro pave all along the top of the spiral.

How It Happened

Ronit: A few days before the proposal (though I had no idea at the time), I got an e-mail from Marcy, one of Dominic’s friends that I had met several times. She wrote to say that she would be visiting Los Angeles for work and would love to get together with us for lunch. Of course, I agreed. We planned on meeting at Il Fornaio for lunch. When we got to the restaurant, the hostess took us to a table supposedly reserved for us and Marcy, but before I could even sit down, we were serenaded by a barbershop quartet! They sang “So Much in Love,” and while they were singing Dominic reached for my hand and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! I was completely surprised and thrilled! It turned out that Marcy was never coming after all, she was in on the secret all along. Anyway, we enjoyed listening to a couple more songs and then had a delicious Italian meal.

The OC Times Quartet are wonderful singers and you can listen to a clip of them performing So In Love.
