Ronit just got her first job as an independent contractor genetic counselor. She graduated from Northwestern University with her masters in genetic counseling last year. In her spare time she enjoys reading mystery novels, swing dancing with Dominic, and spending time with friends.

How We Met

We met in January of 2005 through the online dating site OKCupid. We were pleased to discover that we had many common interests, including music and science, and we were thrilled to learn that we both had attended the Claremont Colleges although not at the same time. We met in person twice and we liked each other a lot, but Ronit figured that nothing would come of it since she was planning on attending grad school in Chicago and we both knew that long distance relationships are difficult. Little did we know that distance would not keep us apart, and in just about a year, we'd be planning trips to visit each other! LiveJournal and instant messaging helped us to keep in touch over the next year and a half, and our friendship grew.

Dominic: In June of 2006, after Ronit had had a frustrating quarter, I sent her a care package filled with goodies from Trader Joe’s. Wanting her to know what was in the box and also trying to impress her, I labeled everything in braille. Needless to say, Ronit was very surprised (and to my great relief, I didn't make any major mistakes and she was able to read everything)!

We kept in touch even more after that and then we started dating in August of 2006 when Ronit was in California for a few weeks. The rest, as they say, is history.
